フランシス・ジェームス・チャイルド(Francis James Child)は、スコットランドやイングランドなどのバラッドを収集、研究した19世紀後半のアメリカの学者です。

そのチャイルドが集めたバラッドには番号がつけられ、その78番に今回の曲とおなじタイトルのThe Unquiet Graveがあります。婚約相手に先立たれた女性がお墓の上に366日座っていると、彼の亡霊が姿を現し、砂漠から水を汲んできてほしい、とか、若い女性の乳を持ってきてほしい、と要求をだされるのがだいたいの筋です。

ルーク・ケリー(Luke Kelly)が歌う今回のは、男女が逆になり、お墓に眠る彼女と口づけを所望する、ただし、それをかなえると命は．．．というものです。
