TITLE: Tibby Dunbar (ティビー・ダンバー)
AUTHOR: Robert Burns (ロバート・バーンズ)
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
O, wilt thou go wi' me, sweet Tibby Dunbar
O, wilt thou go wi' me, sweet Tibby Dunbar
Wilt thou ride on a horse or be drawn in a cart
Or walk by my side, sweet Tibby Dunbar
I care na thy daddie, his land or his money
I care na thy kin, sae high and sae lordly
But say that thou'lt hae me for better or waur
And come in your coatie, sweet Tibby Dunbar
I offer you nay thing in siller or land
What man could determine the price of your hand
But give me your consent we'd be richer by far
O, wilt thou go wi' me, sweet Tibby Dunbar
O, wilt thou be known as a poor beggar's lady
And sleep in the heather rolled up in my plaidie
The sky for a roof and your candle a star
My love for a fire, sweet Tibby Dunbar
O, wilt thou go wi' me, sweet Tibby Dunbar
O, wilt thou go wi' me, sweet Tibby Dunbar
Wilt thou ride on a horse or be drawn in a cart
Or walk by my side, sweet Tibby Dunbar
TITLE: The Unquiet Grave
AUTHOR:
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
The wind doth blow today my love
A few small drops of rain
Never have I had but one true love
In cold clay she is lain
I'll do as much for my true love
As any young man may
I'll sit and mourn all on her grave
A twelve month and a day
The twelve month and the day being gone
A voice spoke from the deep
Who is it sits all on my grave
And will not let me sleep
'Tis I, 'tis I, thine own true love
Who sits upon your grave
For I crave one kiss from your sweet lips
And that is all I seek
You crave one kiss from my clay cold lips
But my breath is earthly strong
Had you one kiss from my clay cold lips
Your time would not be long
My time be long, my time be short
Tomorrow or today
May God in heaven have all my soul
But I'll kiss your lips of clay
See down in yonder garden green
Love where we used to walk
The sweetest flower that ever grew
Is withered to the stalk
The stalk is withered dry my love
So will our hearts decay
So make yourself content my love
Till death calls you away
TITLE: The Sun Is Burning
AUTHOR: Ian Campbell (イアン・キャンベル)
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
The sun is burning in the sky
Strands of cloud go slowly drifting by
In the park the dreamy bees are droning
In the flowers among the trees
And the sun is in the sky
Now the sun is in the west
Little kids lay down to take their rest
And the couples in the park are holding
Hands and waiting for the dark
And the sun is in the west
Now the sun is sinking low
Children playing know it's time to go
High above a spot appears a little
Blossom blooms and then draws near
And the sun is sinking low
Now the sun has come to earth
Shrouded in a mushroom cloud of death
Death comes in a blinding flash of
Hellish heat and leaves a smear of ash
And the sun has come to earth
Now the sun has disappeared
All is darkness, anger, pain and fear
Twisted, sightless wrecks of men go
Groping on their knees and cry in pain
And the sun has disappeared
TITLE: Come My Little Son
AUTHOR:
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
Come my little son and I
Will tell you what we'll do
Undress yourself and get into bed
And a tale I'll tell to you
It's all about your daddy
He's a man you seldom see
For he has to roam away from home
Far away from you and me
Remember laddie, he's still your dad
Though he's working far away
In the cold and heat, all the hours of the week
On England's motorway
Now when you fall and hurt yourself
And get at feeling bad
It isn't any good to go
Running for your dad
For the only time since you were born
He's had to spend with you
He was out of the job and we hadn't a bob
He was signing on the brew
Remember laddie, he's still your dad
Though he's working far away
In the cold and heat, all the hours of the week
On England's motorway
Sure we'd like your daddy here
Yes, sure it would be fine
To have him working nearer home
And to see him all the time
But beggars can't be choosers and
We have to bear our load
For we need the money your daddy earns
A-working on the road
Remember laddie, he's still your dad
And he'll soon be home to stay
For a week or two, with me and you
When he's built the motorway
TITLE: On Raglan Road
AUTHOR: Patrick Kavanagh (パトリック・カヴァナー)
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
The Queen of Hearts still making tarts"という箇所があります。
The Queen of Hearts,
She made some tarts,
All on a summer day
And I not making hay"で思いつくのは、"Make hay while the sun shines.(太陽が照っているうちに干し草を積め)"という諺です。
原曲のFaínne Geal An Lae(ファニャギャランレ「日の明るい輪」)を追加しました。
On Raglan Road of an autumn day
I saw her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare
That I might one day rue
I saw the danger and I passed
Along the enchanted way
And I said let grief be a fallen leaf
At the dawning of the day
On Grafton Street in November
We tripped lightly along the ledge
Of a deep ravine where can be seen
The worth of passion's pledge
The Queen of Hearts still making tarts
And I not making hay
Oh I loved too much and by such by such
Is happiness thrown away
I gave her gifts of the mind
I gave her the secret signs
That's known to the artists who have known
The true Gods of sound and stone
And words and tint without stint
I gave her poems to say
With her own name there and her own dark hair
Like clouds over fields of May
On a quiet street where old ghosts meet
I see her walking now
Away from me so hurriedly
My reason must allow
That I had loved not as I should
A creature made of clay
When the angel woos the clay he'll lose
His wings at the dawn of day
TITLE: Scorn Not His Simplicity
AUTHOR: Phil Coulter (フィル・コールター)
PERFORMER: Luke Kelly (ルーク・ケリー)
See the child with the golden hair
But eyes that show the emptiness inside
Do we know, can we understand just how he feels
Or have we really tried
See him now as he stands alone and watches
Children play a children's game
Simple child, he looks almost like the others
Yet they know he's not the same
Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no, oh no
See him stare not recognizing that kind face
That only yesterday he loved
The loving face of a mother who can't understand
What she's been guilty of
How she cried tears of happiness
The day the doctor told her it's a boy
Now she cries tears of helplessness
And thinks of all the things he can't enjoy
Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no, oh no
Only he knows how to face the future
Hopefully surrounded by despair
He won't ask for your pity or your sympathy
But surely you should care
Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no, oh no, oh no
