多発性硬化症との闘病もむなしく、1997年に51歳という若さで惜しまれつつこの世を去ったロニー・レーン(Ronnie Lane)の「デブリー(Debris)」が今回の曲です。

フェイセズ(The Faces)の1971年ワーナー・ブラザーズから出た「馬の耳に念仏(A Nod Is As Good As A Wink... To A Blind Horse)」というアルバムに収録されています。

フェイセズはそのほとんどをロッド・スチュワート(Rod Stewart)がボーカルを担当しているのですが、この曲は作者のロニー・レーンがリード・ボーカルです。

いつ聴いても、いい曲だなあって思います。ところで、この詞にでてくる"you"って父親なのでしょうね。慎ましくも逞しい生活感の中に、父親への愛情。なぜか、ほっとしてしまいます。
