TITLE: Both Sides Now　（ボス・サイズ・ナウ）

邦題は「青春の光と影」、ジョニー・ミッチェル(Joni MItchell)のBoth Sides Now（直訳すると、「今、両面」、つまり、「昔、片面」）です。

物事を一つの面からだけではなく、両面から見られるようになると、それだけ懐が深い受け止め方や感じ方ができるようになるのでしょうが、でも、結局は「分からないことだらけ」なのです。

「人生とは．．．」なんて、偉そうに話し始める人がいる席にいることになったら、表向きは神妙な面持ちで、心の中で「こいつ、何もわかってないくせに」と思っておけばいい、と天邪鬼は私は思ってしまうのです。

やはり、「生きる」意味が分かっている人間などいるわけがないんだ、って思うと、妙に納得、いや、安心してしまいます。

実は、この曲をはじめて聞いたのは、ジュディー・コリンズ(Judy Collins)の1960年代後半にエレクトラ・レーベルから発売されたWildflowersというLPでした。

ジュディー・コリンズは、ジョニー・ミッチェルの曲を他にも、Michael From Mountains（マイケル・フロム・マウンテンズ）やChelsea Morning（チェルシー・モーニング）をLPで取り上げています。
