海の男と若い娘との「間違い」のお話です。海と人がいれば、当然起こりうるお話です。

生まれた子が北の大地ですくすくと育つ木のように元気に育てばそれはそれでよしとしなければならないのでしょうか。

それとも、施設に預けられる子供は可哀想だからお母さんがしっかりと育てなければならないのでしょうか。

それとも、未婚の母は「許されざる行為の結果」なので子供は施設に預けなければならないのでしょうか。

翌朝早く船乗り青年が目を覚まし
メアリーのエプロンに金貨を投げる
これ取っときな、わるいことしたからな
さっきので娘か息子ができたかも

女の子だったら施設にでも出して
ポケットに金貨、財布に銀貨も忘れずに
男の子なら青い服を着せてやれ
マストに登る姿は父ちゃんそっくりだって
